March was National Engineering Month, but we will continue the celebrations with our series of blog posts dedicated to detailing personal projects from CAD Micro’s very own engineers. Continue celebrating with us! In this blog post, our tech team member Rishabh learns and experiments by 3D Printing a design.

As National Engineering Month transitions into April, our celebration of engineers doesn’t end at CAD MicroSolutions. We’re extending our festivities through a series of dedicated blog posts highlighting the personal projects of our very own engineers.

This week we will take a look into a project created by Rishabh. Rishabh is  a valued member of the CAD Micro tech team. If you’ve reached out to CAD Micro’s support team as a customer, chances are you’ve already encountered Rishabh’s expertise.

In his daily role, Rishabh assists customers with inquiries and issues related to our suite of design software solutions. While managing a 3D printer isn’t typically part of his responsibilities, Rishabh decided to venture outside his comfort zone for this project, blending his personal interests with his 3D CAD modelling knowledge.

Using his newly purchased 3D printer – ELEGOO Neptune 3 Pro 3D Printer, Rishabh decided to create and print a Buddha sculpture using PLA (polylactic acid) material.

The ELEGOO Neptune 3 Pro employs Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) printer technology, known for its accessibility and suitability for hobbyists and basic prototyping. PLA, the chosen material, offers user-friendly properties such as higher strength and stiffness compared to ABS and nylon, with minimal warping and a low melting temperature, making it ideal for beginners.

The entire printing process for this intricate Buddha sculpture, from design to completion, spanned approximately 40-45 minutes. While Rishabh found joy in the learning journey and experimentation with 3D printing, he confessed to experiencing mixed emotions upon project completion. Whether it was the profound symbolism of crafting a Buddha or the technical challenges encountered, Rishabh remains committed to furthering his knowledge and exploration of 3D printing.

Let yourself be inspired.
