Dr. Ahmed Alian

Team Lead - Nuclear Component Integrity at NSI 

Ahmed has been involved in multiscale modeling and characterization of multifunctional nanocomposite materials. His postdoctoral research involved modeling of piezoelectric materials, nanowire surface fasteners, and percolating networks in nanocomposites. Currently, he leads the stress analysis team at NSI.

Dr. Omar Zohni

Sr Technical Manager - Worldwide Simulation Products

He got his start in simulation techniques working at Northrop Grumman where he was responsible for the thermal, mechanical, and vibration analysis of their electronics enclosures and boards. He joined SOLIDWORKS in 2010 after 5 years at ANSYS as a Sr. Application Engineer.  He’s spent the last 20+ years working with companies showing them simulation techniques that can help them leverage analysis to drive their product designs.

Dr. Zohni earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Pittsburgh, an MSc in Mechanical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University.

Dr. Reza Tabatabai - Sr. Technical Manager, Dassault Systemes

Dr. Reza Tabatabai is a Sr. Technical Manager for Simulation products at Dassault Systemes, focusing on SOLIDWORKS Simulation and 3DEXPERIENCE Works with SIMULIA. Internally, he is involved in Certification& Training, Sales& Marketing, PM& PD. Externally, he engages with the Value-Added-Reseller channel and companies directly, from multi-nationals to smaller startups. He has 20 years of industry experience, with his primary focus on Simulation, FEA, and CFD. Reza received his Ph.D. from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich) and was a Lecturer & Research Associate at the University of California at Berkeley.

Dr. Waleed Mekky, 

Dr. Mekky is an experienced analyst that has performed many technically complex projects for the nuclear industry in Canada and the US. He has 30 years of engineering experience that involves chemical, materials, and structural aspects with a focused experience in the Canadian nuclear industry. Dr. Mekky has over 20 years of experience using implicit and explicit non-linear finite element analyses. He is currently a technical expert in dynamic analysis of structural systems including seismic analysis, finite element analysis ASME code evaluation, piping and piping supports, and fitness for service analysis. He also has a strong background and experience in structural design, structural dynamics, solid mechanics, and impact and blast analysis of the structure using advanced finite element modeling.

Dr. Mekky is also an active researcher in the academic domain. He has supervised over 8 Ph.D. and 10 MSc. students in the area of response and damage of structures under impulsive loading. His research focuses on finite element modeling of damage accumulation and retrofitting techniques. He was awarded the Natural Science and Engineering Council (NSERC) discovery grant and the collaborative Research and Training grant (CRT) for the Canadian research body.

Rob Johnston

Rob is an experienced Technical Account Manager with a demonstrated history of working in the Metrology Industry. Skilled in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing, Dimensional Metrology, Engineering, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Statistical Process Control (SPC). Strong information technology professional with a Mechanical/Tech focused in CAD/CAM & Manufacturing from Sheridan College.
