What's New in SolidWorks - 2019 - Toronto
TOPIC OF DISCUSSION:
3D INTERCONNECT – IMPORT CAD DATA FROM OTHER PROGRAMS
• SOLIDWORKS 3D Interconnect can now export files to the Revit® family (.rfa file format)
• Read tessellated data from third-party CAD files and load BREP data from imported part and assembly files
ENHANCEMENTS TO PART MODELLING FUNCTIONALITIES – SKETCH AND FEATURE CREATION
• Use the 3D Texture tool to transform textural appearances applied to a model into bumps
• Create partial chamfers and fillets with specified lengths along model edges
• Insert Part with a specific configuration
• Set values for tolerance and precision when creating Hole Wizard features
• Use interference detection between bodies in multibody parts
• Create geodesic 3D sketch offsets entities with the Offset on Surface tool
• Convert trimmed entities into construction geometry or ignore construction geometry when trimming
• Routing - Create partial or fixed length coverings for various locations and elements on route segments
• Sheet Metal - Link the sheet metal parameters to the material when assigning a custom metal
EHANCEMENTS TO ASSEMBLY MODELLING
• Create a bounding box feature in an assembly that contains geometry
• Simplify complex assemblies using the Silhouette command in the Defeature Property Manager
• Go through an exploded view step by step, and roll back exploded views
• External References window for parts and features, and assemblies are now combined into one window, use the Dynamic Reference Visualization to view feature dependencies
• Include or remove components based on specified criteria when saving an assembly as a part
• Treehouse enhancements – Add custom and configuration-specific properties to a Treehouse node
ENHANCEMENTS TO SOLIDWORKS DRAWINGS
• Ability to change or remove the border thickness of individual cells, selected groups of cells, and entire tables
• New Drawing Open Progress Indicator feature provides information on the status of operations while a drawing is being opened
ENHANCEMENTS TO SOLIDWORKS SIMULATION
• Any Microsoft® Windows® system options you define for formatting numerical values now propagate to post processing of simulation results, can control the formatting of numerical values when displaying results
• Export to Mesh BREP Body directly after running a Topology Study
• Ability to define stress (factor of safety) and frequency values as design constraints for a Topology study
• Updated pin connector ability to define a pin through more than two cylindrical surfaces in one definition is now extended to nonlinear static and nonlinear dynamic studies
• Redesigned Remote Load/Mass PropertyManager to improve the user experience and enhanced with the introduction of distributed coupling for linear static, nonlinear static, and topology studies.
• SolidWorks Plastics – assign boundary conditions such as Injection Locations, Control Valves, and Mold Wall Temperatures directly on geometric entities.
ENHANCEMENTS TO SOLIDWORKS PDM
• Define conditional notifications for transitions with SolidWorks PDM Professional
• Generate default values and update the values in the drawing data card for newly added sheets in a checked-out drawing file
• Edit your own history comments only with administrative permission
• File shortcut menu now appears in the Where Used, Contains, and Bill of Materials tabs.
• Convert Task in SolidWorks PDM Professional converts sheet metal flat patterns to DXF/DWG file format
ENHANCED CREATION OF PHOTOREALISTIC RENDERINGS USING SOLIDWORKS VISUALIZE
• Use the Automatic Data Recovery tool in SolidWorks Visualize to recover data in the case of a session ending unexpectedly
• Achieve significant reductions in render time for production-quality images using the new Denoiser feature (must meet minimum video card requirements)
• Import NVIDIA Material Definition Language (MDL) materials directly from the NVIDIA database
ENHANCEMENTS TO eDRAWINGS
• Specify configurations of a SolidWorks part to be available when you open the part in eDrawings
• All eDrawings Professional features from eDrawings 2018 and older now available in free eDrawings Viewer
• Access all assembly configurations that were saved in Large Design Review mode when opening assemblies
