Wrapping Up 2018 – What a Year!
As the CAD Micro crew kick off a new year, returning from time spent with family and friends, and jump headfirst into our resolutions and plans for the year ahead, we have a chance to reflect on the year that just passed. And what a year it was! From exciting new partnerships to a major office move, here are just a few of the things that kept us busy in 2018.
For those who have been with CAD MicroSolutions prior to 2018, you’d probably noticed that we had outgrown our previous home. Despite opening our Cambridge location several years ago, it became quite apparent that we were bursting at the seams at our Toronto head office and it was time for a change. In the summer of 2018, two years after embarking on this relocation project, we packed up our office and walked it down the street to our new location. (Well, not really, but it certainly is that close!)
Our new office, located at 30 International Blvd just minutes from Pearson International Airport, affords us some breathing room and has allowed us to host more events and training onsite than ever before. It’s also home to our brand-new Customer Experience Centre (CEC), where we showcase some of the latest and greatest advancements in Additive Manufacturing and Immersive Display (AR/VR/XR) technology on the market.
While we’re still settling in, we invite you to come take a tour of the Customer Experience Centre and our new office! .
2018 was a BIG year for additive here at CAD Micro, beginning with our partnership with early in the year. For those who have been to visit our new space, there’s no way you could miss our BigRep STUDIO 3D printer on display in our CEC. From helmets to stools and propellers, we’ve been printing some larger-than-life projects with BigRep’s industrial large format 3D printing solutions.
To offer something a little more compact while still delivering beautiful, accurate, industrial-grade parts, we partnered with in the Fall. You can’t miss these sleek desktop 3D printers when you walk into our CEC!
Adding to our offering in September meant the addition of the first stereolithography (SLA) 3D printer to our CEC. Curious about Formlabs? to check out the prints for yourself.
Excited to be in our new office, we hosted a ton of events throughout the year. From lunch & learns covering additive manufacturing and VR/AR solutions, to SOLIDWORKS Hands-On-Test-Drives and after-hours information sessions, we kept our Application Specialists busy delivering some awesome technical content to our customers. We showcased the revolutionary 3D printer with Markforged at FABTECH 2018 in Toronto, the full-color 3D printer at the OCE Discovery show, and DragonFly2020 Pro 3D printer for electronics at CPES 2018. For the first time ever, we were able to host our main SOLIDWORKS launch events at our own head office!
As awesome (and busy!) as 2018 was for us here at CAD Micro, we’re looking forward to what 2019 has in store for us. Be sure to look out for our upcoming events and training sessions on our , and follow us on social media to stay up to date. We wish you all the best in 2019, and hope to see you soon!
With warm regards,
The CAD Micro team
