Let's Explore the Fun Side of SOLIDWORKS
Worldwide, SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD software is recognized as one of the easiest design tools to use; powered by Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE platform. It delivers powerful design functionality with the intuitive SOLIDWORKS user interface, helping to speed up your design process and instantly increases your productivity. The ‘business’ side of SOLIDWORKS allows the user to design better products, produce faster design iterations, improve communications within the team, design with fewer errors and get the product to market faster meeting both your internal and external goals. Now, let’s explore the ‘fun’ side of SOLIDWORKS! Unleash your inner creative genius with SOLIDWORKS solutions that provide better design visualization, allow the creation of aesthetic designs and provide you with the tools to quickly and easily develop rich, photo-quality content that can be used for marketing purposes. Below are some of the key features and products available from the SOLIDWORKS product line that makes SOLIDWORKS fun and allows you to explore your creative side! SOLIDWORKS Visualize aka “The Camera” SOLIDWORKS Visualize was created for anyone who needs to create professional photo-quality images, animations and other 3D content quickly and easily. Not limited to technical users, it can be used by marketing teams to create, communicate, and collaborate high-quality visual and emotional content to drive innovation, design decisions and business solutions. SOLIDWORKS Visualize Standard is available for free in every license of SOLIDWORKS Professional and SOLIDWORKS Premium. SOLIDWORKS Visualize Professional can be bought as a separate add-on if you want to create animations or other advanced features. Subscription customers can access free video tutorials on SOLIDWORKS Visualize via their MySolidWorks customer portal. SOLIDWORKS Composer aka “The Sexy Software” [caption id="attachment_15601" align="alignleft" width="300"] Image created by Jonathan Culm using SOLIDWORKS Composer[/caption] Who says software can’t be sexy? – Sarah Mills SOLIDWORKS Composer helps your organization (both technical and non-technical users) leverage 3D CAD data to create dynamic graphical content that clearly and effectively depicts even your most complex products. The simple and intuitive interface gives you tools to help you easily develop informative graphics for a broad range of technical communications including assembly instructions, product/training manuals and marketing materials. With its integration with SOLIDWORKS 3D, content can be updated automatically. Beyond graphical content, SOLIDWORKS Composer can retain critical design information already built into the CAD model (such as part numbers) and you can easily import design data to create bills of materials (BOMs), add dimensions, place surface finish labels and more. Join us on September 21, 2016 at 11:00am for a live webinar on the features and benefits of SOLIDWORKS Composer. eDrawings Viewer This is a free tool (that’s right free!) that is offered by SOLIDWORKS and it is the easiest way to share 3D data across multiple CAD environments. eDrawings allows you to view and print eDrawings (eDRW, ePRT, eASM), native SOLIDWORKS documents (sldprt, sldasm, slddrw), DXF and DWG format files. eDrawings is also the only CAD viewer on iPad, iPad mini, iPhone and iPod Touch and includes Augmented Reality (AR), which allows you to view your 3D models in 1:1 scale in the real world. By simply activating the device’s camera, you can bring your virtual 3D designs to a real context through your iPad, iPad mini, iPhone or iPod Touch’s screen. Move around the room and see your design from any perspective! SOLIDWORKS Industrial Designer (SWID) SOLIDWORKS Industrial Designer is a new concept design tool that allows you to quickly generate multiple industrial design concepts in response to a design brief. It provides the ability to freehand sketch in order to capture your design ideas directly in a 3D environment and quickly move your concept from sketches to complex 3D geometry. SOLIDWORKS Industrial Designer provides a highly flexible, interactive workflow that combines the benefits of hand sketching, freeform Sub-D modelling (smoothing rectangular shapes for further editing), feature-based modelling and history-free modelling in a unique way. It will save you time during the design stage because with the rapid creation, manipulation and modification of designs using native and imported geometry, you never have to start over or drastically rework designs to make an underlying change. SOLIDWORKS Treehouse SOLIDWORKS Treehouse allow you to see how your next design will be structured before you actually start designing. It provides visual assembly structure planning, creation, editing, and viewing. Treehouse enables you to name your components, drag in existing designs, create configurations and add custom properties all before doing any new design work in SOLIDWORKS. SOLIDWORKS Treehouse comes free with all SOLIDWORKS packages (part of the SOLIDWORKS Tools applications suite) and can be run independently of SOLIDWORKS. SOLIDWORKS was born into an industry that was starved for software that combined 3D modelling with the ease of use of the desktop. In 1995 the world was introduced to DS SOLIDWORKS, which has since evolved from 3D software to providing a 3D Experience.
